MUNICIPAL TOURIST TAX

As of January 1st, 2025, Municipal Tourist Tax is being charged in all Municipalities on São Miguel Island.

The fee will be €2.00 per guest, per night, up to a maximum of 3 consecutive nights per guest, per tourist establishment.

The tourist tax is not included in the reservation price and must be paid directly at the establishment, upon check-in.

The following individuals are exempt from the Municipal Tourist Tax:
a) Guests under 13 years of age;
b) Guests whose stay in the Municipality is motivated by obtaining medical services, for the days necessary for treatment, plus an overnight stay, with this exemption being extended to one person, for the purpose of monitoring the sick guest, and even if the latter does not come to stay overnight at the establishment for health reasons;
c) Guests with a physical disability equal to or greater than 60%;
d) Residents in the Azores.

Supporting documentation will be required to prove the exceptions mentioned.
